Rüdesheim

Day Trip along the Rhine (Oct 3, 1999)

Sunday, Tom (my boss) and I went on a trip along the Rhine in wine country. It's a region well known for Riesling wine.

We ate lunch in a town called Rüdesheim and hiked up to a huge monument that is 1000 feet above the river. It's a great view from there. Then we drove down the river (north) up to Koblenz, crossed the river and came back up the other side.

There are all kinds of castles along the Rhine. I bought a guide book in Rüdesheim and narrated while Tom drove. Unfortunately we didn't stop and take any tours or pictures.  Just out for a ride.

On the way back we happened upon a wine festival in Bacharach. Of course we stopped. It was a fun time. The US Army jazz band was playing and they were fantasic.
